Newborn Photography at home

Spring always brings me lots of new babies!  I love every one of them and their sweet little faces (and the best, the baby smell!).  Many times clients ask “what should my newborn wear?”.  This can vary from baby to baby …some love to be swaddled, some are happy with just being held skin to skin.  I usually try to start with them asleep, then unwrap them slowly as I go.  Small, soft blankets or wraps work well and a number of sellers on Etsy have cute little wraps and such (I do bring some as well).  Hats are popular, too. If you are planning on one certain hat, I recommend ordering it early and making sure it is for a newborn (even those are sometimes big once we put it on them). Nursery Couture here locally has some cute ones.  Or try searching Etsy for “newborn knitted hats” or “newborn hats for photographers”.  The more textured ones work best (not so much the “t-shirty” types).

During each newborn session, we take images of the baby (of course!) and family, up close as well as some around the house. What a fun memory for them to have to look back on an album and see where they were born!
